Microneedling Radiofrequency (MNRF) is a gold-standard procedure for treating atrophic acne scars, including ice-pick, boxcar and rolling scars. At Essentia Derma we use insulated microneedles that deliver radiofrequency energy at controlled depths in the dermis, triggering strong collagen remodelling without damaging the surface skin.
Unlike ablative lasers, MNRF is safe for all Indian skin types with minimal risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, which makes it ideal for our patients.
Fine insulated needles reach a set depth in the skin, where radiofrequency energy heats the dermal collagen. This controlled heating triggers fresh collagen production over the following months, gradually raising depressed scars and refining skin texture and pores.
Effective on ice-pick, boxcar and rolling scars
Safe for darker Indian skin tones, minimal pigmentation risk
Refines enlarged pores at the same time
Improves overall skin firmness and texture
Can be combined with PRP for better results
Results last 2 to 3 years with maintenance
Best for patients with settled atrophic acne scarring and stable, non-active acne. Suitable for all skin tones. Not advised on active infection, recent isotretinoin, or for those with a keloid tendency or pacemaker.
Your dermatologist maps the scar types and grades severity.
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 45 to 60 minutes for comfort.
The handpiece makes 2 to 3 passes at different depths to target surface texture and deeper scars.
Soothing cream and strict sun protection are provided.

Everything you need to know about MNRF
A numbing cream is applied for 45 to 60 minutes before the procedure, so most patients are comfortable, feeling only mild pressure and warmth during the session.
We usually recommend 3 to 4 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. Collagen remodelling continues for several months after each session, so results keep improving.
Yes. Because the radiofrequency energy works below the surface and spares the top layer of skin, the risk of pigmentation is very low, which makes it well suited to Indian skin.
