What Is Botox for Forehead Lines?
Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox / Dysport) for forehead lines is the world's most performed non-surgical cosmetic procedure — and at Essentia Derma, it is administered exclusively by our MD Dermatologists, never by technicians. We use licensed, FDA/CDSCO-approved neurotoxins at precisely calibrated doses measured in units, mapped to your individual frontalis muscle anatomy.
The goal is not paralysis, but chemodenervation — reducing hyper-dynamic muscular activity that etches lines into the skin, while preserving natural expression and eyebrow architecture.
How Does It Work?
Botulinum toxin cleaves the SNAP-25 protein at the neuromuscular junction, blocking acetylcholine release. This temporarily prevents the frontalis, corrugator supercilii, and procerus muscles from contracting. With reduced muscular pulling, the overlying skin smooths out and existing dynamic lines soften progressively over 7–14 days.
Key Benefits
Softens horizontal forehead lines and glabellar (frown) lines
Results visible within 5–7 days; peak effect at day 14
Completely reversible — effects wear off in 3–5 months
Preventive: regular use slows formation of permanent static lines
Lunchtime procedure — 20 minutes with no downtime
Brow shaping and subtle lift possible with strategic placement
Are You a Good Candidate?
Adults 25–65 with visible dynamic horizontal forehead lines or frown lines ('11 lines'), those seeking preventive treatment before lines become static, or patients with brow heaviness from frontalis overactivity. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, patients with neuromuscular disorders (myasthenia gravis), or active skin infection at injection site.
What Happens During the Procedure?
Facial Analysis
Dynamic assessment — photographs taken with neutral expression, raised brows, and frown to map muscular activity and identify dominant vectors.
Marking
Injection points marked with a white eyebrow pencil based on individual muscle anatomy and aesthetic goals.
Preparation
Skin cleaned with chlorhexidine. Ice pack applied for 2–3 minutes for vasoconstriction and minor anaesthesia.
Injection
2–4 units per point injected intramuscularly with 30–32G insulin needle. Average total dose: 15–25 units for forehead + glabella.
Post-Care Instructions
Patient advised to remain upright for 4 hours, avoid rubbing or heat exposure for 24 hours, and not to lie face-down for 4 hours.

Everything you need to know about Botox for Forehead Lines
When administered by an experienced MD Dermatologist at correct doses, Botox should preserve natural expression while softening lines. 'Frozen' results occur from overdosing — our philosophy is always to under-correct and top up at 2 weeks if needed.
Results typically last 3–5 months for the forehead region. With regular treatments, the muscles gradually weaken and intervals between sessions may extend. Metabolic rate, muscle mass, and individual variation affect longevity.
None. You can return to work immediately. Avoid rubbing the treated area, vigorous exercise, and lying face-down for 4 hours post-procedure. Avoid facial massages and saunas for 24 hours.
There is no fixed age. Most patients begin in their late 20s to 30s for preventive treatment, or in their 40s–50s when lines become more prominent. Your dermatologist will assess whether your lines are dynamic (treatable with Botox) or static (may require combination with fillers or resurfacing).
